Fun-loving Anna and her brittle lodger Mr. Kurtz are already living under the same roof as an old married couple. The balance of opposites threatens to tip when Anna's helper syndrome kicks in twice. Anna and her lodger, Mr. Kurtz, have come to terms with each other in their shared flat. But both Mr. Kurtz's planned conversion of the cosy four walls into a smart home and Anna's feelings for a new acquaintance shake up their life together.

Thirteen-year-old Jonas Ettenberger's parents were killed in a traffic accident. Now the Hamburg city boy has to live with his grandfather in the deepest Bavarian province by order of the youth welfare office. The boy finds it difficult to get used to country life and the Bavarian dialect, as does his widowed grandfather to his grandson, whom he has only just met. But Jonas quickly makes friends with his new classmate Julia Stelzer. In the meantime, Harald Messner, Jonas' uncle, finds out that his nephew has inherited a lot of money. Although he also lives in affluence in Munich, he and especially his new wife Sonja hope to get even more money through Jonas. They appeal to the youth welfare office for custody of the boy and are proved right. Jonas has to return to Munich, even though he is now very happy with Grandpa Ludwig and his housekeeper Rosi.

Sick Esther needs the help of her grumpy brother. Only reluctantly does the mechanic Hannes agree to look after his nephews for two days. The two boys first mess up his apartment, then his life. In his distress, pedant Hannes even accepts the offer of help from his perky neighbor Lilli...

Two sisters who couldn't be more different are unaware of their father's double life with two families and the existence of the other until his sudden death. While stuffy Sandra has no need for such a relationship, chaotic Sandy never leaves her new-found sister's side.
